So he can also flick things...
Finger bullet didn't pierce right through the eye-patch? Damnnnnnnnnnnnnn.

This could have been a proper ranking battle, it happened so fast.

So the dude fired some finger bullets at Yakou's ear and the bullethole of the gun at the same time, pretty insane

Then he launched a few more at the kicking part

Crazy!

That ball from Bai Long wasn't enough to break the eye it seems, but it does leave quite an effect, as seen in chapter 400.

On that note, most of everything that we've seen on the 29th is now properly explained. Except a new question gets raised: Baku doesn't have Yakou's jacket on, and Yakou himself doesn't seem to be near Baku. Did they get split?

I didn't notice it at first, Bai Long's shadow on p11 is actually a dragon. Blends in very well with his pose in the air.

@Veshv
Good point, that is weird. I was thinking he might be hiding as a follower referee, but in that situation he probably would've revealed himself to pay respects to Kyara like the other referees did. Perhaps it's a foreshadowing of Yakou's death..? That would explain why he was so down in that scene in c400. But Baku needs Yakou's #0 to challenge StL, so if he does die then StL would have to be delayed.

@catx If #0 goes to Nowa, then there is no problem for Usogui, as he would be Baku's referee in the event of Yakous death.

However, seeing that Kadokura is #2 now, it is questionable on how the numbers are assigned when a referee dies.

I'd sure hope not, Kyara and Yakou both dying in this arc would be so hard to handle, with how long we've known them. I think in the case of this Ban, the winner of the two (if there is one) will definitely be able to attempt StL, as was established by Hachina right from the start. So lacking No. 0 is not a problem in that regard.

@belkrax This. Baku has always been an extremely reckless thrillseeker, especially in the face of imminent death, but I had kind of let it slip from my mind a bit and this chapter just made sure I won't forget that again, lol. He is truly insane, surprised he didn't get a nosebleed.

Where did the gambling go? It's been like, 150 chapters or so since something happened? It's basically a fighting manga now.
My interest is rapidly disappearing.

@Nehona Everything they do is a gamble, especially betting (and securing) their lives on violence. There probably isn't a manga that better encapsulates the essence of gambling than this one since the main character himself espouses the idea that everything is a gamble.
That as opposed to a manga that only uses psychological mind-games and other more typical encounters as a vehicle for other themes (e.g. greed) or just to drum up general interest.

But if you haven't seen that in 150 chapters, genuinely, it's probably best to drop the series and move on.

I will elaborate further because I feel I was way too unclear XD
The "risking your life" or not is not the problem. Usogui was risking his life in almost all the manga, but not like this. For example, the very old gamble in the mine against the revolutionary, seeing who would get hanged, was definitely very good. Both the gambles about the L-file, the one about the crimes and the labyrinth were great. For me gambling also needs to have to do with cleverly explained tricks and such. Opponents that have clear goals and motivations.
To me it feels like the last great gamble was the television show. The radio tower and the ship were ok too.

But this arc...
Various people showing up and getting killed. HUGE prevalence of fighting. Time skips. Scenes that are not shown. Opponents that have been defeated off-screen. Really, you did not even show how Hal's faction was "defeated"? Most of the characters are just... unbalanced psychos who relish killing? I'm being told that Usogui has been clever, but I've not been showed how or why. Unlike the old gambles, there's no way for me to try to predict what is going to happen, or what the trick was, because it's all off-screen. The mind games are all of the: "Oh look, you thought I was going to do this but I did that" sort. But that too is all off-screen, not shown and impossible to predict. It feels like the characters are just posturing to look cool to the readers.
The only part of this arc I liked was Kaji's gamble.

I don't know, it's probably just my personal preference. But lately it feels like I'm reading a random violence manga. And I'm supposed to cheer for the main character because I'm being TOLD he's clever, and he looks cool. Not saying it's a bad manga or anything, just no longer what I came here for in the first place I think.

The reason why the match between Nobuko and Kaji wasn't shown was because Hal told Nobuko to lose on purpose, there's no point in showing how she was defeated.

And about "everything is off-screen" part, I'm not sure which part you're referring to, you have to be more specific.
But I'm pretty sure there's at least one foreshadowing for each of the tricks or strategies.

*The next arc will be more like a traditional gamble(it's a card game), so you might be more interested in it.
And it starts from chapter 328.

@a2j04vm0 I assume you mean chapter 428.

@Nehona Lol well even if you aren't entirely sure why you don't like something, if you don't like something, dropping it is fair. I think you ought to establish some plot-event conditions for it if you want to make the actual drop relatively clean, but that's just my method.

I also suspect that while the style of mind-gaming has changed due to the scale of the ban (it's not really an obviously enclosed gamble like the 'typical encounters' from my first reply), you might just be getting tired of it in general. I'm guessing it's the result of the "main character is guaranteed to win" principle that is kinda obvious in this one, but the time-skips, Baku's brilliant opportunity-grabbing predictive power (see: his collaboration with Hal + coliseum + outlaw victories leading up to his plan let Lalo win early) and accompanying ultra-violence have always been prevalent to me and it doesn't seem to have changed since the very start, as far as I can tell.
