If Leader choreographed his dropping on purpose to buy time and make Baku fail, then he won, i find it odd that he would go and kneel or bow just to do something that can be done by opening your hand.

However the paneling and face expressions makes it look like it was Baku the one that caught Leader off guard, in the middle of the deed.
