Sometimes I feel like this manga tends to overstate the explanations. Makes things seem more complicated than they actually are. Either that or I'm just stupid.

The fact that the squandered time is 25 seconds bugs me so much.. it seems like Leader is trying to match it to his 24 seconds but somehow fucked up and made an error for 1 second. Could it be that the clock is not accurate? Like a minute is actually 59 seconds or 61 seconds?

The reason why Leader is trying to match it up with his accumulation though, I don't know for the life of me.

@Petrichormus I am suspecting the same. If everything so far is according to Baku's plan, there has to be a reason why they are using a digital clock from the phone that automatically tells the time, instead of counting down the seconds.

My best suspicion is it has something to do with the sidereal versus the solar time. Most (all?) digital clocks are adjusted to the solar time which is about 4 minutes longer per day. Referee Yakou also stated that Fukurou's clock is going to be considered superior than his own stopwatch. If, say, the phone clock suddenly adjusts itself (perhaps to do with the fact that it's January 1st) during leader's turn, he could receive 4 minutes accumulated time out of nowhere.
