She had plenty of chances to tell the truth but she just keeps lying. If anyone if selfish it’s her for continuing to lie so she can be close with him, if she would of told the truth from the start then “Futaba” would never exist

@ghostt I wasn't saying she wasn't in the wrong. I was just commenting that the situation doesn't explain his fault in character and shouldn't otherwise place sole blame on one side of a two way situation. I just don't want the plot to follow all the other shoujo plots where the sole blame is placed on the girl and that she has to be the one that takes full responsibility.

And in the beginning she had to lie or else she could have been penalized for breaking school rules, it's not like she would prioritize a guy who insults her over her own situation or know that he would fall for her so easily.

@madra_b Again she just assumed he would tell the school on her. If she would of just told the truth he no doubt would have been understanding and not tell on her, but instead she lied and continues to do so making the situation worse and worse. I honestly see no fault in the guy other than he’s a fucking idiot who can’t even tell she’s the same person, other than that he’s just a super serious and frank person so he comes off mean so I think the sole blame should be on her, this is all because she lied

Well to be fair, Amamiya puts up an act at school, and she actually follows through with what she's thinking as Futaba. It might be partially due to looks, but Kizaki's attitude towards her only changed when she started scolding him to take better care of himself. I'm surprised he didn't suspect anything when the phone call happened, but I guessed he didn't check out of respect to her privacy.
I want to see where the ambivalence comes into play!! When I first read the summary, I thought he'd spend more time chasing after Futaba before Amamiya would eventually fall for his kinder side.

Though I don't know if I would risk telling someone I'm barely close with about my financial situation that hangs on such thin trust after working so hard to get to where I am. I think I've been reading too many korean manhwas where only the FL gets the shit end of the stick while the ML continues to be a little shit, so I was on a 'come on author why is this shit so one sided' kind of mindset 😅

Honestly I don't even blame her for the initial lie. It made sense in context. But she's had plenty of chances to come clean since then and hasn't.

This is quite fun for now, but it could end up dragging on and get old fairly quick if the only hook to the plot is this misunderstanding taking too long to resolve. Hopefully it doesn't fall to that and it's just the initial premise for our 2 dumb main characters.

but still perhaps worth noting that Ichika might mean "one flower" while Futaba is definitely "two leaves" (since she was looking at the leaf logo when she made up the fake name last chapter)
