So far, better than I thought it would be, the title is so misleading, actually the plot is very wholesome, though typical dense MC is dense, but FMC actually seems like a nice person and MC's lack of social cues seems to be from anxiety and otherwise he's a very genuine person. So it seems the similarities with "rental girlfriend" end with the title and FMC's gig work

So what y'all are saying is the mangaka purposefully bait people with the title and synopsis?

Yup, I just read the first chapter, and off the bat the synopsis and title is very misleading.
The girl LITERALLY has a crystal ball and a fortune teller getup on, but for some reason the coworkers at the cafe that the MC works at somehow think it's a rental girlfriend situation, which literally makes no sense. This is safe, the girl is just doing fortune teller secretly, and MC catches her. FMC hears the MC talking with his coworkers. Coworkers start gossiping about her being a rental girlfriend, MC stands up for her, and FMC hears all of this. The MC then gets teased by the fact that he's a virgin by the coworkers, and they say he should go hire her as a rental girlfriend. FMC also over hears this, and for whatever reason then decides to approach the MC and say that she'll be his girlfriend. That's the first chapter. She's not actually a rental girlfriend, but it seems like the MC is misunderstanding it, or at least hasn't really shown anything of understanding that it was fortune telling as of yet. The whole "lying" girlfriend is moreso about how she's lying about her image she puts up in school, and is actually hella quirky and into fortune telling behind the scenes.

But on chapter two she tells him she gets to go on rental dates in cosplay with her clients.

I can tell that I'm gonna be pissed with the MC. Dude's your usual romance manga herbivore protagonist who runs the fuck away every time things were about to advance.
