Lol is that a real thing in Japan, just staying over at the teacher's house? If that's so then the japanese teachers sure have it rough.
In my country the only thing we can probably do is call/ text our homeroom teacher when the classes are over and we need something asap, and I know even something like that can be inappropriate in other places.

@simba6 If he said that, the student will probably say it's an excuse and the credibility that "he's gay" would go down bit by bit the longer the conversation goes. Sensei was really in a pickle, no pun intended. :|

With Japan's suicide rates, they should really consider training all teachers on what to do about these situations. RIP Sensei. On one hand, he could have restrained him not to do anything and called for help. If he has his phone, call from it. If there are people walking down from the roof, call there. If neither, use your bowtie and tie him up (that will be hard to explain tho). And that could affect his mental state even more but hey, at least he's alive(??? that's bs).

And on the other hand, he couldn't think of anything, and really the student is sexually harassing his teacher here with a suicide threat. That's a crime. I know he's really in one of the worst possible positions, mentally, but that's still a crime. So, realistically, I'll make sure to petition the author in getting you your own jail cell, sensei.
