Replacing judge and prosecutors by AI is a delusional and retarded idea frankly, that's how you end up with a rich child rapist being release because he was worth more to society than any of his victims.

I mean thats kind of how it already is though? Rich people get off way lighter than everyone else.

@Ghostdevil Not by fault of the judge, the way they avoid punishement is by not being in court to begin with, paying a dude to take the fall for you is an entirely different problem than whatever problem could be solved by changing judges.

But replace that by an AI and the rich guy could kill 20 kids in public and laugh about it in the tribunal and the AI would go 'I did the math, those kids, even accounting potential growth weren't as profitable to society / the economy / whatever metric you coded as that one guy so no punishement for him' and might even punish the kids's family for wasting ressource and obstructing the guy's success.

Because an AI doesn't give a shit, it just take the value you coded in and does the math.

@BalrogDeMorgoth No Judges give them lighter sentences, same thing with Black people who get higher sentences than whites. But that kind of AI wouldn't really ever be programmed because they only way it would is if its been programmed to judge things like that meaning that society at large supports such judgements which is baseless speculation.

@BalrogDeMorgoth I myself am having a hard time imagining AI replacing judges and prosecutors, but I have no idea what you mean by the AI judge deciding the defendant is not guilty just because he contributed more to society.

Who in the world would program an AI to judge whether a defendant should be guilty or not by the metric of their worth to society instead of basing it on the local laws, evidence of their crimes, etc.? Now that sounds retarded.

@Ghostdevil lighter sentence is still better than no sentence either way and if you think AI would only deal lighter and heavier sentence to people you think should get them is delusional, have fun getting 20 years for a first drug offence because the AI calculated it was more efficient.

@Tersione Because that's the whole basis behind our judicial system ? Our judicial system is based on what's better for society and how to best settle dispute, an AI will have a very different definition of those things.

An AI can't analys evidence brought by humans any better than a human and can't analys local laws any better, have fun turning the whole 'minimum and maximum sentence' into a literal randomly generated number.

If anything, what you're telling me the AI would do is closer to cops than judges, which make more sense because an AI will probably notice more stuff on a crime scene.

@BalrogDeMorgoth then it being an AI doesn't matter, because the society already DOES that value judgement rather than rule of law, the AI has to be programmed specifically to judge purely by value to society than by laws and evidence.

Why do you assume the AI would gauge a persons worth rather than the actions they've taken. What a retarded premise. An AI like that wouldn't be fit to be a judge in the first place.

It's insane that after reading so many revenge manhwa, you'd likely think that the korean justice system is worthless.

@ChibiCthulhu

There is Rooftop Sword Master, The World is Money and Power, From The Grave and Back, although you probably read these already. In RSM, you'll see much more of the "unjust justice" aspect as the other two.

Oh and there's also Again my Life too.

Good reading.

@NotLazy

Thank you. I haven't read any of those actually. I have `The World is Money and Power` on my PTR, I had no idea it's revenge manhwa.

As for the rest, I'm very picky when it comes to supernatural stuff in the modern age so I wasn't very interested in them when I stumbled upon them. I might give RSM a try eventually since it was recommended to me by another person but it's not on priority.

I think you guys are over analyzing this, the MC said these things to discard the the possible link to the vigilante's motive. If the MC had said he became a police due to compassion that makes him suspiscious because he has access to confidential information. However because he said he's only doing this for a stable income then he has no motive to be a vigilante.

The reporter thinks she is going to take advantage of him, but it's the other way around. he's smart, tip off and leak info, the reporter puts it out, and the MC can act freely with those tip offs he put up himself because it is now public info.

What a strange chapter. The cops found the camera footage that showed the driver specifically made sure the victim was driven over enough to kill him for sure. Yet the judge cries the cops didn't find any evidence and thus it's the police's fault the sentence was light. That judge would deserve be diagnosed with a metastasised pancreatic cancer.
