He isn't? In fact, up to this point, the paths of CEO Kim and Ji Young haven't crossed yet. If you meant that Kim ordered the killing of those Chinese gangsters, he wasn't doing it to clean the streets, but to clean his criminal turf.

The general plot around CEO Kim is that vice-chairman Jo Gang Ok (the Imilante) is backing him up from the shadows and wants Ji Young to partner up with himself to bring CEO Kim down. Reporter Chae caught wind of the shadow backing of CEO Kim by Gang-ok's conglomerate and wants to bring the whole story to light, also to send the Vigilante after CEO Kim for her TV ratings (and to feed her obsession with controlling the Vigilante's actions). And Detective Jo has decided to pin the blame for the Vigilante's actions on CEO Kim's gang and maybe to expose his own boss' corruption at the top of the police.

It's ironic that CEO Kim, vicious though as he is, is basically being used as a glorified bait/fall guy by all sorts of people with their own agendas :ROFLMAO: And Ji Young has only begun taking an interest in him in the past couple chapters.

Like another commenter wrote elsewhere, it's amazing how this author manages to keep control of such a complicated plot with several characters pursuing different agendas.

Ah i was confused cause detective murdercop seemed to be implying ceo kim and vigilante were in cahoots. It was weird cause i thought murdercop was significantly convinced that the protag was the vigilante ever since they death stared each other for a bit, i always assumed they would end up having a showdown, never thought he'd just straight up forget about the vigilante and pursue his own goals.

Unless I'm failling to understand, i guess that means murdercop has a grasp on both kim, the vigilante, and the imilante?

The murdercop detective is a really interesting character, looked like just an incredibly capable mook at first, proves to be playing 5d chess

Detective Jo does have a grasp on CEO Kim. He's convinced Ji Young is the Vigilante but seems to be trying to give him a chance to leave this all behind because he's seen how promising Ji Young is as a cop. That's why detective Jo gave him a warning to stop stepping out of line a couple chapters ago.

But he doesn't know anything about the Imilante at this point. Not even reporter Chae, who knows Gang-ok is a Vigilante fanboy, knows his alter ego. And both Gang-ok and Ji Young are a step ahead of detective Jo because of Gang-ok's ability to use his conglomerate's control of mobile phone chips to duplicate phones at will.

And yeah, one of the things I like the most about this series is that everyone is clever. There are no idiots among the important characters. All of them are competent, shrewd schemers who can think out of the box and quickly adapt to changing circumstances and new information. It's a joy to watch their plans pan out and clash with each other. Battle Royale of the Psychos, if you will.

Yeah i absolutely love how even the minor characters are playing 4d chess, but they just get outclassed by the main characters who're just on a whole nother level
Really refreshing to see, rather than the usual "nameless mook waiting to be gooned"
