It's sad to say it, but he's used to getting beat up. Notice how he was in that turtle shell position? The back's the strongest part of your body, and can definitely take a few hits with a that stick (i don't think she's all that strong). Tetanus though....tetanus might do him in.
Also i think he was complicit in her sister's leaving school and part of him doing all this is to atone.
