Imagine having an ideology most won't get..
But you've found two guys who has similar views, only they choose a different path to achieve it.
Canute leaving the farm alone, shows that he respects their method and accepts thorafin's terms of negotiation.

Loving their interaction here. How Thorfinn's expression reverted back to his 'bratty' looks (if you see his eyebrows and posture lol), and how Canute could finally laugh freely without being haunted by his conscience (or well the old king in his mind).
