s he? This arc feels like a massive step back from farmland arc.

This arc serves as a real reminder of how hard violence is steeped in the world. Sure, there are people like Canute where they do want actual peace in the end of it, but there's alot of other people who just like war or see it as glorious or what not.

Can this arc be done better? sure.
Unlike the previous two arc where you really only focus on a handfull of characters, this one throws a lot at once and that does muddy the story a bit but the the arc serves a purpose and can't be discarded.
