Both Shizuka and Kaoru are toxic for each other. Shizuka is jealous and possessive (to the point of not moving on in a healthy manner and as such roping poor Mio into things) of Kaoru. Kaoru is narcissistic and abusive (to the point of toying with Shizuka's jealousy for validation and dropping her like a hot coal when she has a new target) and remains so even now she has been forced to confront a reality where she isn't immediately desirable, and still doesn't care about the pain she has wrought thus-far.

The only real victim is Mio, who earnestly loves Shizuka and only hoped for reciprocation. She was even stepping out of her submissive role to win Shizuka over, while Shizuka is more concerned with perceived rejection from Kaoru and takes for granted the adoration she receives from Mio.

@Tcof I most likely am not really getting my true intent across. I do not think Kaoru is correct or innocent and I think her approach to relationships is wrong, just that she is upfront and what to see is what you get. Where as Shizuka is completely using someone who truly loves her, similar to her and Kaoru, but is completely deceitful about it. She may have been sincere with Mio to begin with, but clearly realises quite soon that Kaoru is all she really thinks about, but continues to lie and use Mio.

I'd also say that Shizoka chases Kaoru more then Kaoru does in more recent chapters and in particular this one. She only followed her to provoke some jealously about going out with Mio.

I guess I should say I find Kaoru more interesting, then that I like her and for sure don't approve of sexually harassing someone, which she clearly does.

Justice was a wrong use of words for sure.

Well, of course. Kaoru already set eye in a new prey. She don't need Shizuka anymore.

Just what I think. Shizuka broke up with Kaoru because she didn't agree to share. She wanted to be the only lover of Kaoru, that I can understand. But she didn't broke up because she was no more in love. And I think she understood that there was no way she can turn Kaoru into monogamous. It's why she started, with efforts, to change her-self to stop being in love with Kaoru. And IT WORKED, at least a little. She really started to go over. And when Mio pop up, Shizuka really felt for her. That doesn't means she completely forget about Kaoru. All these are complicated feelings, I'm sure you already had it. For sure I have.
If Shizuka try to get over Kaoru, I think she need to believe that she was the special one of Kaoru. As @Tsuki-chan said, Mask, or rather the behavior of Kaoru toward Mask, threat this thought.
So, for weird reasons (weird as humans feelings), this new element is making harder the task of mourning.
So, to sum up, I think like @Tcof, "She clearly was wrong. But common mistake." It's unfortunate, specially that Mio had to see this. I'm pretty sure this is a bad for a good. But it will take time. Mio is struggling right now, I'm so with her, I'm so hurt to. But Mio is the strongest, the more mature of the three know she can eventualy understand how twisted Shizuka was and that she needed more time that she might have confessed (even if she was not conffesing at all about Kaoru from the begining, it'snot like she could have said "hey, I think I can love you, but, just for you know, I note sure I completely get over my ex"). This event will help Shizuka to understand she love Mio more than she love Shizuka, and Mio will be more able to help her with the knowloedge of the truth. Yeah it hurts.

Mio, you're the strongest one, I know you got this. Don't give up too soon.

I'll try to make it clear but my english is so-so.

I think Shizuka really get over Kaoru. But only at one condition (among others) : she had te believe she was the special one for Kaoru in the past.

Now that Kaoru show how she can be when she have a special one like Bou-Chan, then maybe Shizuka wasn't so special after all. Then, the condition is broken.

It's weird but when Shizuka kiss her right now on the library, my hypothesis is not she is saying "you have to love me right now", but rather "you really did love me once, didn't you ?"

Heey I'm late for this but this got kind of interesting so I'll do my part too anyway.

As @Babydel says, I can't really judge Kaoru as good or bad in her acting, even if I don't agree with the way she handles her relationships. I also don't feel like she manipulated Shizuka in anyway, afterall she is just a player who doesn't seem to have in high regards things like "the feeling of love" and "having a special someone" (something I can actually agree quite well), so the way she acted with Shizuka was always cohesive with her personality. And while all of that has completely gone to hell with the fact that she is trying so hard to get mask to like her, I agree with what people said before that that is just her way of not being able to deal with defeat.

And this brings me to Shizuka, who has always been "in love" with Kaoru, yet played with Mio like if she was nothing to her, much like the way Kaoru acts despite the fact that she never got over her and just used Mio as a substitute. What mihht be worst on this is that she isn't even her emotional substitute, but merely a physical toy that she has to play while completely disregarding her feelings.

So there's that I guess. And while I'm not someone who can relate to the feelings of romantic love and drama, I do find quite an interesting story on how these three have developed and a really good portrait on the different kind of personalities there can be.

And lastly but not least important. Fuck Shizuka, hopefully Mio realizes the fact that she is nothing but a toy to Shizuka and doesn't come back to her.

I really don't like Kaoru, she plays with too many girls feelings. And now Shizuka is doing the same thing to spite her. F*ck off.

People I do get you're angry, Shizuka also broke my heart. But I do realize she's not evil. Like, what would you have done in her situation? I think she really likes Mio and is doing her best to get over Kaoru. She could have opened up more, but I really think she just really wanted to get over with it as soon as possible. Mak-senpai opened a wound in her heart, the only thing that was important to her: the knowledge of knowing that they loved each other but had different values. Now she's losing even this, meaning that her fears were accurate all along.

I personally have seen these kind of complicated emotions IRL many times. Relationships mostly don't end for lack of love.

What I feel about Shizuka now is uneasyness, not because I think she's bad or doesn't love Mio, but because we can't trust her. She wasn't completely honest. We need to see how things develop, but surely now the main issue is trust.

Gotta take the bitter with the sweet sometimes.

Excellent chapter, even though it's tough on the ol' feels.

I hate the Kaoru or Shizuka chapters. I like Mio fine, but those two are drama on legs and I just want my fluff.
