i also really like how he's clearly not just mentally older, he's like. *older older. like he's a grandpa, and it shows through how he handles situations, such as with not wanting to take credit for discovering such a vital technique because he knows it wouldn't be fair to the original discoverer, but he's still very fun/has his own individual that matches his old self that wished he had more fun/meaning in life.
