What a wild assumption. I assure you that advice really depends encouraging. One of the tenets in therapy is to support, not tell what they need to do.

Shinra really did as well as she can because she can’t be there for Merrin. To clarify, it’s hard to build therapy rapport in parasocial relationship.

I don't know, I thought it was pretty legit advice.
She acknowledged and accepted her current situation, and without looking down on her or her situation, gave her an idea and motivation of an out for someday sometime even if it's not right then and there.
