the author also threw in yuri baiting just to have Chifuyu's friend eat shit (because of course she will), and that's on top of Akira having a massive misunderstanding and then just writing off her crush and ditching him for multiple weeks, only to find out she had it all wrong, and immediately after be told they couldn't date if they wanted to co-captain the badminton team.
And that's leaving the eldest sister out. For now.

So the author's been doing a whole lot of this in the last 10 chapters or so. Feels like we're just hitting "The Melodrama Arc", but there's four protagonists so it's piling up that much more, with no way to know how long it'll get dragged on.
