This is a decent, quick read. It contains:
-A strong-willed female lead
-Strong-willed male leads
-A love triangle
-Insta-love
-“Forbidden” love
Several of these things are really not my cup of tea, but while I wouldn’t read this manga again, it was decent enough that it didn’t feel like a waste of my time.
Things I liked:
-The art style is older but well done.
-The female lead isn’t a complete push-over.
Things I disliked:
-Insta-love.
-That one super annoying and unreasonably hateful side character.
-The mangaka couldn’t decide if she wanted her readers to sympathize with the non-winning corner of the love triangle or to hate him.
Just an observation, but it does reveal the basic plot line, so I’ll put it under a spoiler tag in case you want everything to be a complete surprise.
Based on the one shot in the last chapter in addition to the manga, it seems as though the mangaka likes the concept of “two guys want the girl, girl marries one out of a sense of duty but is in love with the other one. Turns out the guy she marries is actually a jerk so it’s okay for the girl to cheat on him with the other guy when he shows back up.”
Again, not really my thing, but if it’s yours, I hope you enjoy it!
I gave it a 7/10 stars.
I’ll start with the things I disliked:
The age gap was too big, and i think it added nothing, she might as well have been 18 or 19 (the same age as Masaomi).
Masaomi’s sister could have used a bit more of back story or motivations. A little backstory of how their father treated them would make her more interesting and her actions more justifiable.
The things I liked.
The main character is very interesting, and I like her own motivations and doesn’t give up on her dreams for a man that she isn’t sure she’ll see again. Her dream of making and selling clothes is key part of her character and i liked seeing how it slowly becomes true as the manga went on.
I love Chiho Saitous art style.
I dont mind the Insta-Love trope, I think its done well enough and doesn’t seem to crazy. The love triangle (corner) is well done, I really liked Masaomi’s realization that he does love Koto.
Good pacing (imo)
It is a shoujo romance at is core, and it is very apperant. Very classic shoujo, with an interesting storyline and good pacing, the side characters are mostly well done (except Masaomis sister). Although it could have used a bit of a backstory, it is a quick read.
Not the best shoujo out there and kinda problematic tbh ToT, but a good quick read.
