@Blackbird Demons are capable of taking on human form through cultivation(Madam White Snake, for example)...so why can't the reverse be true, too? What they ate probably had these as a side effect, too. Maybe they didn't refine them properly. Or the method/school of cultivation is one that deals with transformations.
