In my head the promise was more like to make your lineage (and kingdom) prosper forever under her protection. But maybe it could just be keeping them alive until the lineage ends on their own. Yeah, that’s the literal meaning.

In fact, it would help her greatly even, since she is tired of being bounded by that promise she made, so now she can end the royal bloodline with this girl and finally fulfill that promise and be free (of course that doesn't mean she won't be sad when that girl finally reached old age and die, unless...)

My comment does still hold because she won’t be thinking that at first. “Oh how nice that she won’t have children if she marries a female (me)” would go against the idea of “preserving” the descendants other than just keeping them alive.

Not that the magical aspect of the promise would make her suffer because Ruby won’t have children, but it WILL her put her into an identity crisis because after Ruby dies, what is there left to protect? She won’t be bound by those words anymore (unless… the Dragon’s wife gets to live forever), yeah. No effects on her. But her mental state? It’s over.

Therefore, BOOM SHE THOUGHT IT WAS GOING TO BE THE SAME OLD WATCHING OVER THE STUPID HUMANS WHO REPRODUCE LIKE PLAGUES BUT SHE DIDN’T COUNT THAT ONE OF THEM COULD BE A CERTIFIED MONSTER F*CKER.
