Communication actually happened between Satsuki and Yukari? I'm surprised, but positively. These two just described the mess that I came to enjoy reading years ago. Well, you know what they say... admitting the problem is the first step to recovery. A talk like this might've been the therapy those two needed. It seems they're finally getting ready to move forward from this mess and I'm all for it.
Satsuki is afraid. Afraid of loving Naoto back (and falling short or failing, destroying important things once again). It was frustrating to see the wishy-washy Naoto try and fail repeatedly, but really, she was part of the problem too.
Satsuki is seemingly confident, but is actually an awkward, emotionally clumsy, cowardly ice queen who makes unpredictable bold starting moves, but easily gets cold feet and tends to end up breaking important things. This is pretty consistent with how much running away (both literally and figuratively) she's done over the course of this series. I see her as this complex mess of a character that I can't describe with one word, and that's part of what I like about her. Kuudere is the closest that comes to mind, but that word by itself really sells her character short and doesn't do her enough justice.
By contrast, Yukari is seemingly shy and docile but is actually bold, a bit physically clumsy, emotionally fragile and a secretly obsessive girl, who tends to shoot herself in the foot pretty often because of that emotional fragility. Yandere might've been a word that was used to describe her years ago, but it's more potential than actual; this word alone also doesn't do her justice.
On a side note, I kinda like how Paka Abe continues to stick around as a friend character instead of just "Tokui's convenient one-off tool to find Satsuki". That's not a Shimada and Abe side ship under construction I'm seeing is it?
