When mc date a girl in the middle of the story, you know it's most of time just a bait for drama.
Lot of authors do the same thing in rom-com manga, for exemple :
-Honna wakou (Nozoki ana and others)
-Seo kouji (A town where you live, same for his other manga)

Yeah , it's really cheap to do that and can be very annoying, but it's a common trope to make easy filler chapters.

Man, sunk cost fallacy shure is something.
This manga is trash, makes too many fillers just to have the obvious happen. If you're looking for good romcom, read Kaguya-sama.
If it wasn't for Satsuki, I'd never had read this and it is obvious he'll get her because she's the one who gets all the attention in the first chapter.
That's what makes most sense if we look at the trope.

Also, dating for fun like teens and wanting to marry someone are very different things, he'd probably say yes if Satsuki was his girlfriend.
Their bond is much bigger and can be seen from the very beginning when the boys starts bad mouthing Satsuki and F cup-chan, and he only defends Satsuki and does it without even thinking about it.

They’re trying to portray this Mom as super over-protecting and creepy but tbh she really hasn’t done anything wrong (other than that weird way of searching him out by showing up at his house). She hasn’t really forbid them from seeing each other. And obviously you’re going to limit their time together after u find them enclosed in a dark room with condoms.
