You know what I like about this one that's rare in 'introverted bookworm' mangas? They're finding and recommending real books. A nice little detail that shows Ono really thought about what they're going to do with these characters and their path.

Usually it's "I recommend X author for you!" and "Wow the <thing that happened> was so moving" which is whatever, but always comes across as kinda vague.

Yukari did super well in the bookstore. Recommending people things, let alone your unrequited crush, is a dangerous business. And she was great at it. And Shouko‘s reaction was super positive! I’m less interested in how quickly they become a couple and more interested in how long it takes for Yukari to realise that Shouko is crushing on her cousin, not the popular guy. That’s when things are gonna start to really cook and the wait is agonising!

I was also thinking it could be her cousin and not the popular guy, and that'd probably make the heartbreak Shouko is experiencing even deeper and more complex because not only she might have feelings of inadequacy for loving a girl but the fact her feelings are incestuous makes it worse. Her crush wasn't going to come true just because she's not loved back but because no one would ever approve of it, and if it ever come out she'd be labeled as a freak. Which yeah girl that's lowkey weird. But hey now there is a non-blood related quirky girl right in front of you for you to date so yay go have fun you funky little lesbian.

Anyone else think that Shouko's such an "Ogura Yui" character? Like if this were to get an anime adaption I'd imagine her voice to be Ogura Yui's

I love how deep they build on their thoughts, feelings and not as surface level as typical stories

and some one said this is generic and run of the mill XD

alas I've never really been into straight romance. I find the occasional one that hooks me, but something in my brain doesn't click if they're not both girls
(legit thought I didn't like romance period until i came across k-on doujins)

This might be wishful thinking, but I think there's a decent chance they're both in the same situation (in love with one another but already acting like they were rejected).

Yukari, for the reasons we already know: girl got no self-esteem. Shouko, for other reasons, maybe because she doesn't think Yukari is gay.

I have nothing to back this up, it's just a guess.
