Honestly, I don't think she's even a bad person, just disasterously stupid to an astounding degree.

I was kind of going through it with a toxic ex while reading this the first time, so I probably judged too harshly. I've calmed down a lot and can clearly see that Mai didn't intend this. However, I still think this is inexcusable behaviour. At some point, ignorance becomes indistinguishable from malice. It's why "reckless endangerment" is a thing. I've come to give Mai more grace, and I don't think she's irredeemable as I thought, but she definitely still needs work. Instead of being a certified Mai hater, now I'm exited for the character development. I hear from some LN readers that she gets a lot better later. Still unsure how I feel about the ch14 stuff though
