Miyako only acts weird and expressive around the people she know and love, I assume she's just a quiet loner in college. As long as your academic performance is good then you don't need to interact that much with other people aside from really necessary stuff like group assignments, and I bet there are even people who got a degree without making a single close acquaintance in college/uni.
