Also wanted to say, maybe bc I'm american and desensitized to this kind of thing, but I don't think drugs is that big of a deal. It is a dark subject, but I'd feel more sympathy than judgement in a case like that.

So I could be wrong (but I really wish I was)... IF Arika WAS doing drugs, then the whole cover-up wasn't just to hide her murder, but also to prevent any investigations from happening at all. Hiding her body so it couldn't be analyzed for traces of drugs in her system.
If I remember right, she was one of the most popular in the group at this time. An idol being caught smoking or having a boyfriend is one thing, but an idol doing (possibly) illegal drugs? Something that big isn't just gonna blow back on Arika, but everybody in the group; ruining all their chances.
Again, hope I'm wrong. This could all just be some set-up Emily made to get Nana to give up without resorting to whatever Chihiro is doing.

I don’t think she was doing drugs but I am thinking the view that Arika was a completely clean person might be optimistic. We honestly don’t know much about her during her idol days.

I think there should be some social pressure so people won't take them, way too easy to get addicted and ruin your health/life.
Netherlands has got a nice system, where addicts can go to rehab to get clear drugs, and just slowly take less and less, but that's obviously not the case everywhere so yeah.
