Civs and countries maybe not, but if it was first an exoplanet and was named first and then lived it could be possible (there is a exoplanet with the name "nap"), there are also funny names for small towns either because there are always that way (a town named bridge, because it had a bridge) or for publicity stunts (a town name "It could be worse")

But people still had the self awareness to not have such non-descriptive names in their own mother tongues... I think.
