A breather chapter is nice after the suffocating one last time. If I were binge reading this, I literally would not have been able to breathe if they continued immediately

Awww this chapter is so wholesome. Sensei laughing makes me so happy after the previous chapter.
And also gets to me more since a part of me thinks the same as the boy. Wanting to be special...but what does it mean to be special?
I'd like the individuality gets explored again in later chapters.
I also saw a comment saying that the boy from previous chapter will come back later? Hopefully so.

Very relatable to many i'm sure, we often chase to be special without knowing why we want to or what special is.

I can't seem to understand what people like so much about this. It had promise in the beginning, but it's just parading some pretense of depth while being quite stupid and shallow.

A nice and wholesome change of pace.
@criver I'm curious. What would you consider a "smart" and "deep" story then? Since you like the start of it, I'm guessing it would be something a lot darker.. and despair inducing? Something like Oyasumi Punpun maybe?

@Froshi Something that doesn't flaunt a pretense of depth when there is none. Don't get me wrong, the manga is fairly original and possibly above average in many regards. However it is clear that the author bit off more than he can chew.
The main issue is that all character interactions and events are way over the top. It is clear that the author wants to write compelling and thought provoking scenarios, and a deep and charismatic MC. And this is exactly the reason why it is so infuriating when he/she squanders the potential of the premise. The events are overdramatic and the character interactions artificial, the MC comes off as a caricature of some poser that wants to be perceived as "deep", his charisma shoved down the reader's throat by how the students perceive him, for no apparent reason- clearly not what was intended. I blame the author's lack of experience/talent/research.
I liked the beginning not specifically because it was dark, but rather because I thought that serious issues would be discussed in an equally serious manner in the manga. And as a bonus I expected that I would get to see a charismatic and intelligent MC, and not only be told that this is so. Needless to say I was fairly disappointed.
And yes, Oyasumi Punpun was a lot better in that regard. Not specifically because it was dark though, but rather because the author didn't resort to cheap tricks (for the most part) while developing the plot.

@Criver , this is a clear cut case of your expectations being betrayed, but here is the painful truth: your expectations are not based on anything other than what you wished this manga was.
1. It's an episodic manga about 1 or 2 students each, the interactions have to be condensed into a certain page number, sadly this is detrimental and makes each story a bit surreal and fast, but that's the medium.
2. The teacher is not written to be a badass. Just because he teaches ethics (which is his job) doesn't mean hes Buddha, almost every chapter we can see his glaring flaws next to the students. The students only believe he's a badass because of his collected demeanor in class and because hes their teacher and one who helped them in a difficult moment in their lives.
3. Just when did the manga try to be "deep"? The teacher teaches ethics so we got a lot of quotes from philosophers and writers, again, that's his job and a good introduction to every chapter.

I'd be interested what you perceived as cheap tricks.
