@Leo80221 The author choose to use the White and Black magic as full heal/boost and Curse/weaken classes. If a Black Mage have Fire magic, why the Fire Mage don't have Curse magic (you understand the real logic? the Black mage as you describe it isn't a pure Black mage, but more a "jack of all trades, master of none" kind).

The Author choose to have dedicated classes, a full heal and boost party White Mage, and a full Weaken (curses, poisons, sick flesh,...) Black Mage. It's a type of Magic used in many Tabletop games, and old MMO, but not in the actual ones because they couldn't fight is not in a party with tanks and DPS... It's an old way of playing where you needed to form party to protect and be protected, and couldn't wander as you want all the time and only party for dungeons or world boss...

It's actually sad that most games nerf debuffs, but it makes sense in alot of ways, if there was no nerfing of debuffs, they would be insanely overpowered if you applied them to irl scenarios.

A example, a curse that makes it so you can't touch metal, that alone would make life much more difficult, and we all know how insidiously efficient poison from a snake bite is irl, they may not be flashy, but if you applied logic to them, then they could depending on ability, surpass even something like megumin's explosion from konosuba in destructive capability.

Not a terrible first chapter. Gives a rough overview of MC's abilities and also shows that his party isn't completely useless without him. Childhood friend has some one in a lifetime OP blessing. Archer girl has a skill that only 3 people in the world have. Tank guy knows when to cover and guard his teammates. Warrior douche is plenty powerful enough to hold his own. MC might be debuffing the enemies, but his team isn't complete trash.

Also, had to chuckle a bit when he said that people don't appreciate black mages since they can't feel the effects themselves. Judging by the title, they're about to feel just how much they've been helped. Not only are the enemies not getting weakened, but the party itself is getting debuffed.

@GurenNoOu Yea, it's a bit weird how authors do this, the last one I read was about Kanzen Kaihi Healer no Kiseki, where the protagonist's get's shunned by a king who doesn't know the value of the evasion stat…

@Leo80221 Yea! But I guess the few offensive skills he has are too weak to be compared to the rest of the skills his party has which is why he doesn't get any attention. Though to me it seems like the black and white mages don't have any offensive skills.

Seems like the team can probably handle themselves well enough even after he left, unlike another novel I read where everyone depends on the protagonist… AND THEN THEY KICK HIM FOR NO REASON… Moving on, they are gonna witness how much of an "Effect" he has on overall battle performance!

Doesn't seem like he lost his job to me. All he did was teleport back after enabling a checkpoint (and it took 5 chapters, at that...), so the statement at the end seems very inconsistent with what is drawn (and with phoenix's dialog).

I think it wouldn't be too hard for him to save his job if he was given a chance to demonstrate. (If the reason he was booted was because they didn't think he did anything.) He could have made two party members spar and debuff one side to show how annoying debuffs are. But oh well. I guess it is hard to come up with ways to save yourself while under the threat of being fired.

And I doubt he will reveal his true identity to his former party members immediately. Probably what that mask is doing in his hand.
