What Kind of Empress Is This? - Ch. 42 - End of season 1

I love the characters in this story. The realist and cunning FL, the dorky ML, the autistic loser, the playful potato girl, and those silly soldiers
But the way the author tries to come with conflicts for the story is just forced. I keep saying "Oh come on!" whenever I read this. This is just drama for the sake of it. So frustrating and not in the good way.

Why are things so rushed in the last 3 chapters? It was doing so well before!
I wasn't particularly disappointed with Ye-Rom's character before this but this is just taking it to the extreme. This just looks like the author was rushing to end the season and added plot twists just for the sake of it.

Haaaaa, why did the MC not say anything even after knowing that they're lying? The least she could do was voice out to the Emperor instead of keeping quiet? Why are you letting someone like that who's OBVIOUSLY not up to no good loose?

Even if she thinks that he's from the same world as her, why do you thinks it's a good to not say anything WHEN YOU KNOW THAT THEY'RE LYING!!! Whatever that's gonna happen probably could've been avoided if she voiced out her concerns.

I really want to like the MC, but damn.

Why would he even waste breath on asking to go with them, it's not like he didn't know the answer already, plus it's clear he wants to stay behind a manipulate those two unstable people so what was the purpose of that?
I hate when they make Leads stupid, what was the point of showing her solving the twins case if in the future she sees something strange happening and she's like oh well, nothing I can do.

but i'll probably end up sticking it out. i really do want mc and ga-ya to be friends,,, like ,, help a girl out??? ga-ya obviously seems like a good person but she's so often neglected and misunderstood. like what GR said, they both stand to gain a lot from becoming friends/allies.
and while it seems as if the author was trying to write the ml and the villian(?) as foils of each other (different ways the loss of a loved one can affect a person--to move forward or be bent on revenge), foils are meant to bring out "another layer" of characters better, but i think in its delivery, this fell flat.
anyway, i hope the author figures out how they want to do this. i'm not saying that this manhwa needs to be clean and efficient to the utmost ability, operating by chekhov's gun, but i hope that the author stops making "ooooh plot twist" for the sake of length, shock, and "complexity".

Why do their cute moments have to be contrasted with the filth happening in the palace...

They can’t lie, but do they also have not believe in security? Why was that maid able to steal the empress’s clothes, and why is that liar able to go wherever the fuck he wants, even after getting punished? The entire palace is portrayed like a ghost town, it’s so strange. People only show up when the plot demands, as I guess the author doesn’t want to deal with all the witnesses that would realistically be around.

Also, the MC staying silent is such a misstep for her character. Her main strength is her way with words, yet the author has her stay silent and let that dude walk all over them. She could have easily finessed some to prevent everything from going his way, but yeah, it does seem like the author was rushing to the end of the season.

3/10 Good enough to drop it... Wish I dropped it earlier but the premise from the first few chapters made me think this could've been a good read...

The romance feels somewhat forced and doesn't make much sense... All the characters are stupid for multiple reasons one being the last chapter with the stupid female lead letting the suspicious guy alone for... her entire journey w/ the emperor besides letting him do his thing when she picked him up... The writer breaking one of their rules they set up from the start... about how they can't/couldn't lie? I hate it when writers make up their own rules then turn around and break them just for the stupid plot. Don't get me wrong... The story is good! But it's to much of a let down/shit storm with how the writer feels they have to include all this garbage along with everything else... The other female lead/antag female lead? is annoying as well and does nothing but be a spoiled little bitch that doesn't change for 42 chapters... And will probably be the same going into the next season and so on until the very end.

What else can I say in my little rant? Just another 'good potential' read ruined by a writer that doesn't know where to take their own plot.

Ugh, that was a hard read. I'm dropping this here. The fl tries so hard to be the strong/wise fl but failed so hard. And the emperor?! Are we not gonna talk about how he left everything on the empress to decide?! TF?????? Tbh, the "evil" ministers were more believable than any of them.

I’m not going to drop this, but a lot of things in the story don’t make sense.

She’s so obsessed with going back to a life where she had nothing. Even if she’s afraid of life in the empire (which she has no reason to be as she’s never been hurt or even threatened) it just doesn’t make sense and it just becomes annoying.

I can't take the FL inability to raise her suspicion on such a dangerous man. How hard is it to say, "no, I would like to talk to her somemore."

Or, let someone else escort her or what not. She is useless.

Ok some people are thinking of dropping due to dumb FL but maybe we should give it like 20 more chapters maybe she’ll get more intelligent plus the series is just getting spicy. In all honesty she’s probably like this so that the Author can drag on the story

I don't have issue with the FL.not 100% but the people of that world is the issue. How exactly do bad people carry out their evil plan. Just execute it directly for the world to see by sheer force/influence? No need to scheme evil plans?

Now, han jin gun can get away with everything because he's so good at lying and people believe/follow him without question? What about jin gun's suspicious background? How the hell is he roaming freely like
....My brain hurts.
