They produce as much slop as the Japanese do, but they also can create utter peak and normal great ones like SSS-Class Suicide Hunter, Omniscient's Readers Viewpoint, Surviving the Game as a Barbarian, Lord of Goblins, Surviving a Fantasy Adventure Comic, The Greatest Estate Developer, "What A bountiful Harvest, Demon Lord", The Maxed-Out Player, Salvos, One Step for the Dark Lord, My Insanely Competent Underlings, Housekeeper, Get Schooled, Damn Reincarnation, Webtoon Character Na Kang Lim, The Disloyal Subject Saves the Country(Sadly Axed), Barbarian Quest(Also sadly axed, far too soon)
There are a ton of cool ones.

Authors when they're forced to produce something creative and not just copy the ongoing trope of random 30 year old virgin salaryman reincarnating as an isekai villainous dude and building an big booby harem consisting of an his own sister, some duke daughter, an assassin, an elf soon as he is born.

If that is your metric, then Manga, Comics, Literature, Film, Vidya... Honestly, every form of Media is shit.
Like, a majority of Media is mass-produced slop, sadly, but one should focus on the good ones instead and leave the slop where it belongs, forgotten and ignored.
Anyhow, your metric ain't good.

To know what peak is, you need to learn what slop is. Peak wouldn't have walked the path, if Slop didn't pave it.
I wouldn't have walked the path if not for Peak. Slop just came by as an addition.
It's actually Slop that's walking the path for everyone to see. Peak is trampled under the million of Slop's daily footprints on the pavement. :aquadrink:

Slop is honestly not good in general.
Like, not every story has to be a masterpiece, but slop is downright created by filling checkboxes in order to artificially manufacture content with no soul behind it, heck, I dare even say they are worse than Artificially Generated Content in that regard, less as a praise to the latter, but as an indictment of the former.

Maybe on the same topic...
A few months ago, i started reading porn-manhwa (i forgot the acronym).
Yeah, yeah... I know most of them are slop.
but while reading them, I can't stop thinking that the level of writing and storytelling is kinda more polished and interesting compared to the mainstream manhwa.
Still, there are a lot of improvement that need to be made if they wanted to make porn-manhwa as big as hentai,
but I think it is going into the right direction.

Have you ever tried to, you know, just filter them out and read the manhwa that aren't like that? And then, praising and recommending the good ones to help them become more popular? Or even, gasp, buy them to compensate good authors when that put a lot of effort into creating good manhwa? Sending a signal to others authors and editors that there's a market for quality stuff?

Every medium is full of slop. The difference is that in some mediums and niches, the fans actually try to unbury the gems so that they can be easily found by everyone.

Personally I like reading overdone tropes in Manhwa compared to Manga, the plot may be dry and overused, but you have to love the opportunity for more react images differences in art styles and see how people manga-fy the human figure.

Also you may consider it to be"slop" but sometimes that's someone's introduction into a possible career as a mangaka/manhwa artist or hobby to have fun while making money (....or a desperate struggle to break into a field they love but uhhhh might not yet developed the skills for). A lower bar of entry might introduce more repeated and tropey content but it also gives opportunity for grown and practice that's better than spending more of their time struggling to get anything published or being left in a bubble of their own feedback.

edit: Also speaking from experience living in Korea for a few years, the social and family pressure is huge so I can see why there are so many tropes about MCs becoming powerful and breaking free from social and familial issues and becoming loved by the masses or escaping/changing abusive families to enter a life of happiness and unconditional familial love. #VicariousDreams and all that

I disagree that it should be excused. Drawing, writing, comic creation is a creative activity, if one enters it and only recycles generic and dull formulas, then they are not creative and should fail by that alone. Actual amateur content has the problems of amateurish writing, but at least you can see that the creator does it because they want to do it, their adherence to formulas mostly being because they like that formula.
The ones that create slop do not put in that honesty into their work and are on the same level as Artificial Image Generators, in my opinion.
