I think it is likely that her ring got other conditions like you suggested. no killing but healing and possible protection.

An OP sword that has a stupid limiter. This manga had the chance to be something fun to read. I find myself disliking this set up though. The over the top bullying is also super annoying. How is a character that aspires to be a hero so damn timid.
