So she likes Ayumu but she's still extremely competitive, she never seemed one to do things with hidden intentions so kinda makes sense.
She didn't confess to him after joining the club because she never won at kendo, i think i remember her saying she thought of that as her last chance.
Why is she helping him? well... ig that's simply because she loves him. It would also seem like she was happy they had that in common.

Rins competitiveness can be kinda nasty but she's still a really good person.
