Hokuto no ken is both underrated and a masterpiece. Yes, it's underrated because only a few have read it. HnK is supposed to be as popular than Jojo or Dragon Ball, two other monumental shonen mangas from the same time period. But it's not, especially in the young generation (less than 20 years old).

Some people in my age know the worth of HnK, but everyone else just think it's a stupid ultra-violent manga, with dubious dubbing (i'm french, and the french dubbing was... a glorious form of sabotage). And youngsters, like my half-brother, know DBZ and Jojo, the shonen jump big three from my teenage years, some others "old" manga. They even have read the mangas AND watch the animes. But Hnk is nearly unknown for them when they don't have a relative in my age, and the lucky ones how know about HnK just don't care and think it's not worthy of their time...

But i hope the anime remake will correct that. The first anime adaptation was shit, which didin't help. But the later anime adaptation of Jojo have done a lot for the popularity of the serie, and i hope it will do the same for HnK.

Fire Punch, I don't think it's really underrated, because people who read it understand the worth of the manga. But not a lot of people knows about it and that's pretty sad...

Also, I'm very sad because Kingdom's fans are not very proactive to spread its name, like come on it's very good, and every japanese know about it!! Why is it so hard for international readers to start reading it?

Also, this one, The master of the Library is really good! Would be thankful if someone picked it up.

The first few volumes are so boring that people have to struggle to read them. And Shin is really annoying and his clothes look ridiculous.

First time I hear these critics...

Didn't know about that. But even so, I think the whole story is really good!!

Two comics I think are underrated:

Faraway Paladin, because despite getting an anime there's not much talk about it (or at least it hasn't reached me) and also because it has not been licensed where I live yet, that I know of, despite seeing the most unreadable junk on the shelves.

Asahinagu is sports manga done good; it has a live action adaptation and the same issues I mentioned for Faraway Paladin.
