This is just something random.
How did it start?
Who Started and created it?
What made it happen.

Almost anything related to manga, anime etc or anything related to mostly 2D leading to 3D media
including cartoons.

Example.

Ishinomori Shoutaro started creating Kamen Rider,
1 of Japans Famous Tokusatsu Heroes starting themes with bug eyes, bikes, kicks, etc
N still strong in terms of toys n fandoms(personal opinion)
Also leading to a lot of parodies.

I'm sure one can find lots of information on tropes on the enter-at-your-own-risk https://tvtropes.org/
While not guaranteed to be 100% accurate nor completely unbiased, so Your Mileage May Vary (YMMV), as the site warns readers.

Regarding Gender Bender, Ranma 1/2 is certainly one of the most popular anime/manga to prominentnly feature it, though the trope itself can be found in ancient mythology and legends.
i.e. There are several instances of gender bending in Greek/Norse/Hindu Mythology, which predates every anime/manga ever.

Dot Hack//Sign would disagree with that SAO...

Narnia would also claim the Isekai.

But specifically anime, would be Aura Battler Dunbine in the 80s, Rayearth, Digimon (for the main char in Dot Hack//Sign as well),

Zero no tsukaima started the pink haired tsundere trend.

Is there such a trend? Typically people would talk about the modern violent tsundere trend, which Kugimiya Rie is prominently known to have given a voice to. However, Shakugan no Shana preceded Zero no Tsukaima. Of her most famous tsundere roles, only Louise has pink hair, whereas Shana, Aisaga (Toradora), and Nagi (Hayate no Gotoku) don't. If you browse top tsundere lists out there, pink hair is nothing special. It's there, but just one among the other hair colours.

@AbyssalMonkey They weren't that far apart anyway, so I guess you could call those characters one big bunch that made the modern tsundere suddenly more popular. Although if you ask me personally, I like a more traditional tsundere better, such as Tohsaka Rin.

Though it does feel somewhat right when Kugimiya Rie did start to poppularize tsundere characters

@AbyssalMonkey I doubt modern viewers would even recognise the real classic tsunderes to be such. Tohsaka Rin is still the classic type, but just greatly exaggerated to make it very evident. The violent modern tsundere, however, is something totally different. I haven't got a single clue of where the violence comes from and how it's supposed to fit in with the tsundere definition at all. In fact it shouldn't, and it hasn't got anything to do with tsundere. Those characters, made popular by Kugimiya Rie, just happen to be both tsundere and violent characters. So, it's two tags, not one. Or should be. Of course there's no science here, and definitions change simply by people editing them.

In that sense VNDB would be right by totally ignoring the violence aspect. However, I'm not sure that's the general perception these days. There have been so many violent tsunderes.
