I'd like to say it's one of those relationships where they become so close that they're practically siblings, but when another person joins in, one or the other becomes jealous and starts to play defender so the newcomer doesn't upset the balance the relationship had before. He either despises being the third wheel or he likes her. I hope not though. I like it when childhood friends stay friends. Just be together platonically.

In one of the earlier chapters the older sister was teasing him how he always liked the female main character and not her. The only one that doesnt realize it is female main character

Yes, he likes the younger sister. I have an unpopular opinion, maybe he was the one who told the other girls at school about the stain on mmc's arm. For equality I use mmc (male main character). I never understood why male main character uses mc and female main character uses fmc.

i think it's really obvious that hyeji (the girl introduced in ch22) is the one who must've overheard seoyoon and nayul talking abt his secret under the bridge, and then gossiped to the other girls in class abt it. homin isn't set up to be a bad guy lol that's my man and ima stick beside him 😤

seoyoon mentions multiple times that he's heard girls in a classroom talking about his secret. hyeji was probably the girl that told the others. she's also shown noticing nayul getting bullied as a kid (when taewoo throws the milk at her) and feeling no sympathy for her, so she's clearly known nayul for a long time and has mixed feelings about her. she even admits that she's known of nayul when she talks to nayul and homin during the present day, and the author includes the fact that nayul used to get bullied by girls who were jealous of her close relationship with homin.

no? we can't make that assumption bc we're never told exactly how long that period of their (nayul/seoyoon) friendship was. it could've been a couple wks to months for we know. esp b/c he's still in elementary school when he transfers soon after their rift.

the lie you're referring to is the one of nayul gossiping abt seoyoon's mole, right? obviously we can't say for certain why anyone would lie about that, but its implied that hyeji has a crush on homin, and with the knowledge the author provides of girls bullying nayul for her close relationship with homin in the same ch that hyeji is introduced, a reasonable guess would be that hyeji overhears seoyoon/nayul's conv under the bridge -> then realizes/sees how close nayul is with homin -> wants to bully nayul by tearing her apart from her only friend -> gossips about seoyoon's mole and blames nayul for revealing the secret to her

Don't think that's really necessary. MC is just the main character, male or female. I've never seen or heard someone using mc to specifically mean male mc and fmc to mean female mc. If there are multiple main characters then you don't use "main character" to refer to a specific character, since it could be referring to any of them.
If there is a need to differentiate between two main characters that are male and female, like you are doing, there is already something in place for that: male lead and female lead, ml and fl.
