The end of chapter 21. The end of Ryunosuke's age. . . . .
It was very gut wrenching, that he died without any achievement in the war. But if happen the otherwise, that just means I'm celebrating someone offing another human being aren't I?? Especially after learning what Japan did back then.
And as I process my feelings, I reroute how I think about it . . . Ryunosuke died . . . not being a murderer. He died with his hands still clean. He died still as a young kind man.
And now decades later, his decision, his sacrifice, his promise with Toranosuke is the one that wakes him up. Buying Toranosuke and Kaoru a little bit more time before their end.
That alone I believe is an achievement.
