Aside from this, I wonder why all youtubers/translators all ask us to join their discord channel. Does discrod pay them money? or do they gain something from this? I own a discord channel with close to 100 people no one is paying me money as far as I know.... can someone enlighten me please.

It depends on what kind of group is doing it if it's a group which works on donations. They invite you to their discord as they have their own websites and people will be notified on their discord and they will get more views hauling money through those advertisements.
Whereas the groups who don't work on donations just feels appreciated and feels motivated the more discord members they have. They need some kind of motivation rather than money and this provides that. That's just my view over this.
