Came in looking for some shounen romance, got an enormous world of magic instead.
I have yet to see manga where plot progression is so over the place. The plot works best with its large arcs spanning 10+ chapters, where full stories are told through immense action and magic. These were a complete dleight to read. Other chapters, in particular on side characters and their dealings with Kagari and Takimaya, go at a snails pace. It doesn't help that this manga is text-heavy, so slow scenes feel even more so. On the plus, this means fast scenes benefit from more dialogue to flesh out the world.
The world of witches is beyond anything else. The amount of explosions in this series is unrivalled, even treating entire cities with enormous explosion scnenes. The mangaka's ability to elevate the series with its artwork and fine details is fantastic and makes every page of the story a treat.
There's barely any romance. This is manga where romance is teased in small bites rather than the main element. Its enough to hook one in for the action of the story but laughable as a standalone romance story.
A highly enjoyable piece by the end. Heavy on text, but also on artistic detail and action.
9/10.
