Ho~? This premise, including the
overpowered apprentice and MC, looks so familiar, so western, for some reason. Lol

Agathe's design changed a good amount compared to how it looked here, she now looks cuter and younger. Tbh though I prefer this initial design a lot better.

It reminds me of something I read in some manga or whatever.. "Magic is a tool. It is not evil itself, If magic is used for harm then it is the person who is evil." Or while I dont agree with it 100% of the time "Guns dont kill people, People do." as in guns are just a tool to be used by people.

Interesting. I like how magic is being discussed very heavily and is a centerpiece of the story unlike so many other series. It’s a good start but let’s see. The only problem is that the mangaka doesn’t know how to explain emotions. Coco goes from sad to happy to aspiring, there isn’t very much consistency.

If the whole thing happened just yesterday and there were only two witnesses... How are there any rumors?
I believe the implication was that in order to maintain a proper information block (remember that they operated a thriving shop) the information was shared with other witches so they could help in restricting access or knowledge about what happened to the general populace.

What also doesn't make sense is how do they get apprentices? If they have to get more people they have to recruit "unknowing" so that means all these brats had to have been brought in. And if they had to draw magic circles, they'd have to be either knowingly taught this or just be a huge LARP nerd who stumbled onto it.

Way to be a bitch about it... If someone lost a loved one, unless it was done on purpose and knowingly, you don't say bs like that.

Sure it's her fault but that's all that needs to be said (if it was ever needed to be said in the first place)

History is never that simple. In the first place, for the "witches with good sense", who were supposedly opposed to the war, to have the power to achieve what they did, they had to be one of the most powerful factions in the war, and consequently ones with the most horrifying spells at their disposal (not that memory erasing wouldn't be plenty horrifying already, as it's basically erasing a person's whole personality and wiping their soul clean in the most extreme case. It's hilariously hypocritical to declare spells used directly on humans as forbidden, yet conveniently make an exception for a single one that serves their purposes perfectly). So, they were most certainly no saints, and it's laughable to think they were truly opposed to wars for any virtuous reasons. What they in fact achieved is a total victory in the war: They monopolised the most powerful power in the whole world, establishing an unquestionable dominance over all the other people, king and peasant alike. They are free to do whatever they want and funnily enough nobody will ever know what they did because they can simply erase memories.

Maybe the war torn world was a hellish place, but their current one is only barely better. While it was scumbaggish to sell a little kid an obviously dangerous book in exchange for candy money, I'd say my sympathy would still lie with anyone who tries to challenge the monopoly.
I've like this take alot, you've given a bit of gritty depth to this whimsical magic fantasy. It makes me want to know more about the powers that hold the reins to this magical society, working behind the scenes.

Accurate analysis.

Essentially, they're making the fascist argument that humans are inherently dangerous and need to be controlled.
