Oh good now I have to wait until 2020 for the official English release to catch up. I hope to god somebody else picks this up. I hate when groups drop stuff immediately when it's licensed

I understand wanting to remove the chapters, but why remove them when there is no English official release and there won't be for at least another six months, probably more? Just lowers the amount of people who will know about it when it does actually hit Western shelves.

Edit: v1 in March of 2019. That's 8 months.

One day we'll have scanlators with balls to go on even when a title gets officially published... but today's not that day.

>If Kodansha doesn't supply WH in your corner of the world, let your publishers know you want to read it
Yeah, I'm sure they'll be ecstatic to publish it because I asked it nicely. Seriously, this line in particular is just a bad joke.

I'm really grateful to Ramsus-kun's staff for the work so far, and I can only give my thanks and praise for not only translating this, but also doing so with exceptional quality, but the whole announcement leaves a really bad taste and much to be desired.
Why not leave the chapters until the official release is up? Why not keep on scanlating only the chapters that are not yet out in English, so that we don't die of old age before seeing later volumes?
I would understand if the English publishers sent mails asking you to stop, but I doubt that's the case. If that's the case, do tell.

The way I see it, this sort of scanlations only encourage the readers to buy an official release rather than do harm.
Hell, if it wasn't for it, I'd have never had the pleasure of finding out about this marvelous manga. That's free advertisement for it, really - taking down all the chapters will only affect the original author if anything, since a lot of international readers won't know about it. Personally I'll buy the original JP releases to support the author precisely because of the scanlations. Other people won't.

Shamefur dispray.

there are no real legal problems if you decide to continue
see how mangastream/ jbox only keeps recent chapters up for Onepiece and removes them since they're supposed to be bought on volumes published

@Qayin It's not the case with this but I feel like a lot of the "culture" comes from how brazenly commercial some folks are. If you are begging for money while offering chapters a licensee might be out to enforce their rights on it may go beyond a DMCA request or whatever.

@Qayin eh, idk, man, i think it's more about motivation rather than balls or sense of duty to pay back the author.
i mean, why'd you go out of your way to scanlates something for free when there's someone else doing it already?
to satisfy the need to see the newest chapter as fast as possible? well, scanlator have no obligation to satisfy your needs and considering scanlator sometimes delay projects for months, it's safe to assume that they themselves ain't in much of a hurry to see the newest chapter.
just understand that ramsus-kun might not feel the same impatience you feel.

though i still prefer that they ain't taking down any chapters though.
because then the official publication needs to put more effort in their release as to have more value compared to fan release other than just mere legitimacy, and something about piracy actually boost sales or something.
and mostly because publication here in the corner of the world sucks.

Honestly for what it's worth once they get started Kodansha is pretty good about catching up to Japan. Not like, say, Viz or something. Viz takes forever.

So sad to see they decided to drop it the second they announced the english translation... In my personal case, I can't really afford to buy the books as much as I would like to (imagine paying three digit numbers for a single book compared to the few bucks a lot of english speaking folks may have to pay), so this is quite a bummer.

Of course that won't change the decision of Ramsus-kun (to which im grateful they decided to continue this project up until now; great work you guys!). But hey If there's some other translation group willing to do the thing...

To be honest, it's not that hard to get access to the official translations via internet, but not at a price that is easily affordable locally. Is it worth it to spend an equivalent of 10 chocolate bars per chapter (35 per volume) for every single manga? They're not exactly cheap, so I have to be veeerry picky. That's why these titles that aren't as big and popular, RIP, another niche manga in the graveyard of licensed titles.

I've seen this happen enough times for decades. Non-popular titles that get licensed and lose scanlation support doesn't exactly turn big and successful cause of the "extra support" the author is getting from the west. They just turn silent, gone, forgotten. Dead, for the english community.

Staff member here offering editing work if another group would like to carry the torch. Let the publishing police try and put me in jail. Or get served a DMCA, idk.

@Redice wait, are you implying that publisher dropped most of the licensed manga before they even reached the ending?
i thought that's only a thing here in my shitty third world country.

if not, well, you forgot that this is the internet. piracy ahoy, copyright law be damned.
just look at goblin slayer.
not like reading fan scanlation is any more legit anyway.

Having money to buy a series is one thing. Remembering it exists after not seeing it for about a year's another.
