random thought, but if you're selling magical tools, doesn't that kind of open the door for reverse engineering? they wouldn't have magic ink, so they couldn't actually recreate it, but wouldn't they still be able to analyze it?

My guess is that people believe they contain magic and no amount of studying is going to help you if you can't use magic. Even if people discover the symbols, no one is going to realize the ink powers it.

@Samhill makes sense, people won't really question it if their cultural belief/common sense/whatever is that magic is just magic. and if the odd person did figure it out they would probably just have their memories wiped (though who knows, maybe something along those lines could be related to the brimhats)

@furopoi Is not only that, but also keep in mind the secret that magic comes from basically knowing how to properly draw the magic symbols with the ink, is not widely known/is strictly kept from anyone who isn't a witch. In a way, to people who don't know magic, you are either born with it or not.

Socially speaking, the way the witch society works also feeds to that idea, with lineages of witches (such as Agathe's). Yet none of that really matters when It comes down to it (Seen in Coco).
