This plot is all over the place. Instagram->Cafe Date->Camping Trip->Creepy doll horror?

I wondered about that. Was the TL reacting against the mention of gender equality, or were they reacting against expected complaints about the mention of gender equality?
I could be wrong but I guess he was talking about others tl who insert some social ideology where there is not. You can find some exemple of one women doing it for some official English tl of some animes that I forgot the name about how women are showed by our society.
So it's just about adding something that the author didn't include

I think that one in particular isn't particularly controversial, just an observation that while we're in an age that strives for equality, there are still gender differences.
It's not about "controversy", it's about clarity. I wanted it to be known that the line isn't mine. That's the start and end of it. I will avoid adding to this post and stirring up actual controversy.

If it's not about controversy in any way whatsoever (whether the subject is controversial in itself, or adding the line is), then there's no point in clarifying that the line is in the original, since it's just another line out many. I mean, you don't add that disclaimer for all of the other lines you translate in the manga.

Because nobody would think that I fabricated an entire line about soumen noodles. But I myself would assume I made up the line talking about political things.

But my point was that it wasn't really political. It didn't point towards any agenda.

Poor translator brought more headache to himself by leaving that TN than if he didn't

Yeah. Because It was part of the original dialogue.

Ha! I enjoy arguing with people on the internet. The important thing is nobody thinks I added in a political message.

Good to see that I am not the only one feeling that the author has lost the plot for a while now. The last good and meaningful arc was probably when he retrieved her plushy. Since then the author has been more or less throwing things at the wall and seeing what sticks. Random little sister, random rude customer at work, this chapter now random instagram cringelord crap slash cafe date, and now we're suddenly camping and there's some creepy doll.

It answers my question, that it's a reaction against the reaction. I don't blame you for being wary of culture war BS, because culture wars are the Jerry Springer Show of politics.

I do think it raises an interesting question about how accurate translation can be. At some level all TL is interpretive. Language is tied to cognition and culture (Jean Piaget) so any translation has to switch between culturally informed cognitive modes. Best case is that you use one set of concepts to approximate another.
