I honestly thought he would end up with our girl but it's also realistic that both of them go separate ways after years, that's life, Jin also has her own priorities and love is not one of them and doubt he can be considered her type. Even if the last ship didn't sail this guy doesn't seem bad at all, seems like he respects Jin's space but at the same time not wasting opportunities to get closer to her and shoot his shot, is not a nuisance for her and her goals and even worked on himself. He could be a good plus in the future for Jin's chill slow life

A life full of work is fine if you really enjoy the work you're doing, but the loneliness will seep in if you neglect your social needs and the further down the line without anyone to share your accomplishments or joys with, the lonelier it feels.
Red head guy seems to be giving her those needs, which is good, and she's definitely enjoying that with how she's acting towards him whether she realizes it or not, like her mom.
