What if the religious patriarchs promote that The True Moon values beauty in erotic form and that presenting your body in such a way brings you closer to it?
You don't seem to get it, but author plays a strong card on the grotesque gap between beauty, the corruption and twistedness. He is trying to pump up the anger of the reader by portraying the deformed villains in scenes where they do all kind of disgusting things to their beautiful victims.
It works. It is one of the oldest tricks in art.
This artist knows what they are doing, and they are doing amazing work.
Honestly, I never recognized any of the artwork as "fap material". To me, they are exquisite pieces of erotic art in a comic.

If you mean the bookstore owner, he was a professor that focused on cultural studies and in the novel it is stated later that either as part of his own education and training, or as something he did before becoming a professor, he did some work as a paleontologist and at least some tangentially connected work as an archeologist. I don't think it's stated specifically which cultures he studied but it's not outside the realm of possibility that he has encountered cultural artifacts that used human skin in some way.

I think that just meant the quality of the clothes, not the kind of dress. Like when the irl pope has clothes that could be made by some random person for cheap but instead they get their shoes or whatever from a famous designer.

I think the author was originally a hentai author and when they don't know what to do... well, you've seen how much cake the author has drawn, my theory is that whenever they feel like the scene is too weak, the probabilities of "his true style surfacing" increase xd.
