Could someone translate what Shi'an has to copy?
Good catch, I was gonna give another not-the-tl-tln for this
using google lens it gave me 2,3,4,5,6,7, yang, zheng . I assume the yang zheng part is to remind himself not to be bad
Here is normal 1-9 in modern simplified Mandarin:
一二三四五六七八九
What Shi An has to copy is also 1-9, but in a form known as “大写数字” (literally "capital numbers"):
壹贰叁肆伍陆柒捌玖
The main context here is simply that it's much harder to write, so it's a heavier punishment since his sis probably only has to do the normal one.
Historically, this form was invented some time around the Tang Dynasty (given that it originated from common use, the exact timeline is unclear) using homonyms to the regular numbers that are much more distinct from each other (for finance and literature). Later in the Ming dynasty, it was mandated that all finance-related matters were to use this form to prevent forgery, misinterpreting, or tampering of ledgers. I believe cheques and bonds in China use these numbers to this day though i think some bank records use Arabic numerals.
