@Crystal : I don't think that's it, imo the poor bird would be okay with PDA if it was a normal amount, the problem is that the boss always goes too far, rather than rubbing it a bit he keeps rubbing too strongly for too long, any animal would go nuts if you were suffocating them or not careful not to hurt them.

Pippi-kun isn't that mad. Hair means nothing. Our mean(well, unsocialized and not fond of people) cockatiel would just bite me on the nose for simply existing. And draw blood. Though, given that he loved his reflection and would also frequently beat the hell out of his mirror, that might have been affection. He still earned the nickname 'Evil Little Devil Bird.'
