You're viewing it from your perspective, not the perspective of the people who call them evil gods.
What if everything you knew was one way, it was comfortable, perhaps you were even successful at living that way.
Then this dude or monster shows up and is like "Nah it's all got to go. Y'all stupid and wrong."
You'd laugh or scoff or ignore him. 'Cept he actually has the power on his own to make it happen, he doesn't need followers, doesn't need your consent, no law holds him back, no group can tell him what to do, no need for representative power he can just stretch his hand out and do it all himself. So he does. He tears apart your systems, rips apart your happiness, destroys your comfort and familiarity, and your loved ones suffer - because the bigger the change, the more likelihood people are sacrificed for it, even positive change.
He may not even want this to happen, but it has to if he's going to do what he's supposed to do. By the definition of this 'you', is he not an evil god?
