I’m guessing it mainly took this form to preserve the artist’s health, but the extent to which action has been phased out of this series is weird. This arc is such a different (and imo, less interesting) existence, and it feels largely irrelevant to the overall plot.

this is what im guessing too. Hopefully things get brighter i do not want this series to end up like prison school

Wondering how much of this arc would be cut from season 4 of the anime. Ain't no way they make people watch 12 episodes of this

Actually this arc seems to focus on character development, and introductions. Granted too many characters are being introduced at once, and it's making it hard to keep track of everything. Most likely a lot of stuff mentioned in this arc in going to become relevant during the away mission arc(s).

Yeah, I re-read it recently and it wasn't quite as drawn out as it felt (monthly releases sure don't help though). This combined with all the ranking fights don't do much to establish stakes though. It's been too long since the invasion.
