@Ers92 Except the lord has no reason to not fully eliminate him anymore since he now official own what he didn't want him to discover, like the MC gave the only reason anyone would have to not eliminate him immediatly in exchange for nothing cause building up his base is now only possible if his ennemy forget they want him gone.
what does he expect from giving the the salt? loyalty? they won't be loyal, they would probably receive the same reward if not a greater one if they stay loyal to the queen. at most you bought yourself some temporary goodwill, hopefully MC still has a plan to get rid of them as soon as possible.
It's a classic scam, he'll catch them on a technicality for breaking the contract for not being "faithful allies", then enacts the small print clause of ”all your base are belong to us”.

It's just a way to gain a grace period so he can develop without harassment/interference by them. This man is about military might when it comes to conquering not about lolawyered.
The ones he allows to run away if they so choose, gives food, shelter, clothing, job, and social status to? Ya know in a different culture where their lives were already forfeit?
The MC is allowing that lord to keep using that deposit because 1. the MC doesnt have strong enough a military force to enforce his property rights on the salt mines 2. might as well turn it into a political favor that he can call upon in the future. Once hes strong enough, he can reverse it and take back the mines that are in his territory
@Qwertyfox
This isn't bribery, the guy was already using that mine, this is extortion. This is more or less him telling the guy to work with him or there will be consequences.
