I understand this is set in the era where it wasn't that hard to get a woman "diagnosed" with hysteria and sent away to a mental institution, but this plan just still seems really convoluted and dumb.
also in like the very first chapter rose was ready to blow away Mr.Howard immediately if she couldn't get what she wants. For her to have been so docile up to this point is really odd. Did hanging out with Beth for a few months really make her forget about her ,presumably, years as a Black Velvet assassin?
