Yep, it's really easy and satisfying, just as long as you just jump in whole-body in one go, rather than crawling in gradually. That one is excruciating, because it gives time for the layer of hot sweat and steam condensate (if you're in a Russian wet rather than a Finnish dry bath) that covers you to wash away.

Going in a sauna is really nice. The best way to do it though is in a nordic country. You get in a nice hot (wet) sauna, you stay there drinking beers with your friends, and then when you're getting too hot, you run out and jump into a pile of snow. That's the proper version of a sauna+cold shock.

Yes, I do this often. It's not unpleasant at all if you're warm enough from the sauna. It's much worse to go in cold water when your skin is room temperature.
